Austin Wood - For The Snow of the Millenium
The Grackle has been busily writing and arranging Austin Wood . This (probably choral) piece was inspired by our One Hundred Year Snow that began at 9:30 Christmas Eve. It wouldn't stop! It wouldn't melt. It wouldn't go away. Someone sent us the snow of the Millenium for Christmas here in Texas where it never snows. It was quiet. It was soft. It was spiritual. Brazoria County people were absolutely enchanted - mesmerized - inspired through Christmas Sunday and on into Monday.
The Austin Woods are the thin lines of hardwood along our three rivers: The Brazos, The San Bernard and The Colorado. They are the guiding beacon-tree landmarks for half of North America's birds migrating north and south each year. The visiting birds remained very quiet during the snow!
